First Man

First Man
2018 - PG-13
Director:Damien Chazelle
Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Kyle Chandler

I went to see the new film "First Man" hoping to watch an historically accurate and emotionally moving epic about the space race I grew up with. I was soooo disappointed!

Neil Armstrong has always been bigger than life to me and a real American hero. Unfortunately watching this movie unfold is EXTREMELY slow, boring and with very little dialogue. Add to that how they make Neil out to be some introverted, heartless and myopic husband and father and you're left wondering why did I waste one of my three MoviePass selections on this film? I was expecting at least SOME action but it was more like watching cardboard cutouts moving around the screen.
The film has only ONE redeeming quality and that is some of the footage of the landing and the scenery on the moon. But even there I was dragged down by the Armstrong character just standing there doing nothing but being an introvert and seemingly missing the greatness of the moment. PLEASE PLEASE don't pay to see this movie. If you feel you have to see it wait until it shows up on cable. It wasn't worth the gas it took to get to the theatre. On a scale of 1-10 I give this movie a negative 2!
Sorry they did this to you Neil Armstrong!
